PROJECT BRIEF
This was a project was a Collaboration between Art Center's Design Matters and the Pasadena Art Works. The challenge was to design a space for Pasadena Art Works students to relax and stay off the streets.

A series of interviews with students at Pasadena Art Works had informed us of the need for a basketball hoop. Since there is too little room in the prospective location for a full sized court we integrated a ball return to make shooting around more enjoyable.

Sliding Canvases were implemented to create a gallery area for the students in the hopes that people would come by and wish to purchase their works.

Each panel is a standard door which can be quickly and easily replaced when purchased.

Space to just hang out and talk we felt was essential in student life. This open space provides maximum flexibility for a number of seating arrangements.

Many students in Pasadena Art Works are engaged in music. They love to perform and need a stage to do it on.

FORM & FUNCTION
We developed and debated the form, function, and material for a long time. The final design had to be simple and cool. We were striving for a single move to encompasses all of our problems.
