PROJECT BRIEF
The consume armor started out as a project which planned to utilize the massive amount of waste we create by discarding aluminum cans. I wanted to make a statement about the beauty and usefulness of what we view as trash. To emphasize my point I wanted to use only the cans and nothing else.

FIRST STEPS
The first step I took was to analyze the material restriction. The length and size of each unrolled cut sheet of aluminum. From there I knew I had to create a modular system.

MODULE
As I researched different modular systems, I came upon the chinese star scale armor. I really was intrigued by the pattern as well as my heritage. So I decided to go with this one.

CONSTRUCTION
I began creating a self locking module. Each one was able to interlock with the other vertically and horizontally. Next was to figure out how to make these cuts with precision and repetition. I ended up using a die cut to pump out nearly 300 of these. Afterwards I hand constructed the armor.
